A bountiful harvest

For Eurobodalla’s signature fresh produce look no further than our local oyster farmers. Oysters are readily available at farm gates, roadside stalls, shops and restaurants. They are famous for their creamy, sweet flavour and have been described as “the best in the world” by some seafood experts. So if you’re looking to try some truly local food, start here!

The annual Narooma Oyster Festival celebrates the humble mollusc along with all things seafood. The festival brings together local flavours, seasonal produce from local farms, and top chefs and cooks, and demonstrations on how to make the most of the freshest food and produce from the region.

While you’re here, indulge on the local abalone, sea urchin, lobster, prawns and fish, harvested from our pristine waterways. Even kelp is harvested and combined with herbs and spices to produce delicious flavourings.

Eurobodalla Dairy Producers

Bodalla Dairy Shed
Cream of the crop

The cows feeding in the lush, peaceful paddocks of the region produce rich, creamy milk. This is the not-so-secret ingredient behind our award-winning cheeses, creams and ice cream, now highly regarded by chefs, cooks and consumers across Australia. The creative producers have combined unusual and exotic ingredients that impart truly unique flavours. Local produce doesn’t get much better than this!

See how these delicious food products are made at the Bodalla Dairy Shed and the ABC Cheese Factory in Central Tilba. And you can indulge in the luscious milky products in store.

The same paddocks that enrich the dairy industry also give up more delicious local produce. The rural environment of Eurobodalla ensures locally reared livestock is stress-free and well-fed. Local beef, lamb and pork are quality meats for the table. A portion of production will be through local smokehouses where fresh meats are transformed into delicious charcuterie.

Farmers Markets

Australia has an abundance of fine food, wines and dining destinations. So it’s no surprise that visiting local markets is one of Australians favourite pastimes. Farm fresh fruit, vegetables, cooked food, preserves, sweets and baked breads and treats make the farmers market a sensory journey.

The SAGE farmers market is an award winning farmers market held every Tuesday afternoon at Riverside Park in Moruya. It is one of a few authentic growers markets where you can actually meet the people who grow the local produce, vegetables, fresh fruit, seafood and meat on display.

People line up waiting for the ringing of the bell that sounds the start of a short, sharp shopping experience. Demand is high and supply limited to the produce that is in season and can be harvested or baked that morning.

There is something very satisfying about buying your week’s supply of fresh food and produce straight from the farmer at the markets.
