It would be easy to describe Eurobodalla as one big garden. After all, more than 70 per cent of the land is National Park or State Forest. A few pockets have been tamed and are worth your time.
Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Garden
The stunning Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Gardens is situated on a 42 hectare forest site, five kilometres south of Batemans Bay.
The gardens grow and display plants which occur naturally in the region. The site abounds with a wide variety of flora and fauna including many of the 2000 species of plants, trees and shrubs of the region.
The local wildlife are regular visitors to the Garden. It is not unusual to see kangaroos, wallabies and possums. You may also be lucky enough to come across the more reclusive bandicoots, echidnas, and snakes. Lizards, frogs and many species of birds enjoy the sanctuary of the gardens and surrounding bushland.
Features and facilities include display gardens, walking tracks, picnic and barbecue areas, children’s playground, a new visitor’s centre and cafe.
Foxglove Gardens
This enchanting property encompassing 3½ acres of exquisite open gardens has featured on major TV shows including Better Homes and Gardens and is the subject of the book “Velvet Pears”. The essence of the gardens is one of romance and fairy tale charm. With each season there are new wonders and floral delights to explore.
A large section of the grounds have been extensively and beautifully developed over many years, with water features, a garden ruin and the Willow House overlooking the duck pond.
