TOMAKIN: BY THE RIVER, BY THE SEA

Looking for a coastal retreat with beach and riverside views, perfectly placed between Broulee and Batemans Bay, and minutes’ drive to Mogo?

Welcome to Tomakin: a stunning seaside village fronting the Tomaga River and the coast.

With lagoon-like coves, kayaking, fishing, and an array of nature-based activities on your doorstep, Tomakin is the ultimate destination for a relaxing yet fun-filled holiday.

To help you plan your trip, here are a few ways to experience the beauty of Tomakin…

What to do

Tomakin is absolutely one of the best places to stay if you’re heading to the coast for water activities.

Barlings Beach is a quiet spot, perfect for picnics and a relaxing swim, while Tomakin Beach is home to spectacular rock formations and rock pools.

On the northern headland of Tomakin Beach is Tomakin Cove, which is dog friendly and ideal for children as the water is shallow and there are generally no waves. Its lagoon-like qualities also make it great for a snorkelling adventure where you may spot a few stingrays and will see a huge variety of fish.

Between the beaches you’ll find Melville Point Lookout which offers sweeping views across the coastline and to Broulee Island.

Other fun activities in Tomakin and surrounds include:

Where to eat

There’s no shortage of fresh local produce and delicious seafood at Tomakin either!

For coffee and a snack, head to The Rivermouth General Store for great coffee, homemade cakes, and fresh smoothies and juices.

For an Instagram-worthy meal, try Smokey Dans for lunch or dinner any day of the week, with a menu featuring slow smoked beef brisket, sticky wings, blazed chook pizza, pulled pork burger, and much more.

For fresh fish and chips, head to Left Bank Brasserie in the Tomakin Club on Sunpatch Parade, or to the Tomakin AutoCentre (a servo which also serves up some of the most popular seafood meals in the area).

Where to stay

There’s no shortage of great places to stay in Tomakin, including pet friendly accommodation so your pooch can tag along for the trip too.

If you’re after proximity to the beach but want to stay in a luxury cabin with on-site pool and other amenities, check out Barlings Beach Holiday Park. They have a range of modern accommodation options, as well as powered and unpowered camping sites.

Tomaga River Tourist Park is located right on the river bank, with easy access to some of the best fishing spots on the coast. Stay in a fully equipped waterfront cabin, with your own private balcony to sit and soak in the scenery.

A little further down the road, with the river to one side and Tomakin Beach to the other, is Sunpatch Cottage. This award-winning, pet friendly single level home is the perfect place to stay if you’re seeking a genuine home away from home.

Makai at Barlings Beach also offers the holiday house experience, and is a 3 bedroom pet-friendly property located a little further from the river but very close to the beautiful Barlings Beach.
