River of Art Festival

The annual River of art festival

Blend art with awe every spring with the annual River of Art. Held over 10 days, the festival brings together artists, exhibitions, shows, workshops and so much more!

The streets of Moruya come alive every year. Multiple artforms are on public display in shopfronts and businesses. Get access to local artists and visit Open Studios free of charge. Supported by ticketed and free events the program is as full as it is diverse.

Festival Launch & River of Art Prize

Across the South Coast and beyond, artists are conceptualising and creating their works.

This year we Celebrate Place. Geographically, it is the topography of rivers that form the boundaries of the Festival. It’s the ocean and beaches, the land between the waters and the mountains behind us.

Finalists will be revealed on September 1, and the exhibition will be launched, along with the Festival, at Bay Pavilions, Batemans Bay on Friday September 15.

Luminous: Celebrating Place

Save the night for the festival’s huge finale, Luminous on September 23 as we Celebrate Place at the historic Moruya Showground. Gates open at 4pm for Artisan and Food Markets, music across two stages, a series of large format projections, illuminated art, roving performers and our Lanterns from Waste installation.

Dress in your brightest and groove to a stellar line-up of local and visiting musicians on two stages including Spindrift Saga, Benji and the Saltwater Sound System, Robyn Martin, Dan Cully, Agency Dub Collective, Groove Operations with Sara Ang, Tony Jaggers, Ron Callo and Danny Freeman.

Upgrade to the ultimate festival experience with a ticket to the Luminous Lounge. With its own installations, a private bar, roving canapes, small plates, sweet treats and rock oysters, it’s the ideal base for your festival adventures.

EXHIBITIONS

More than 30 exhibitions take place during River of Art in a range of veneers, from world class pavilions to historical institutions and even cafes and car yards. Grab your diaries and check out the program to celebrate opening nights with the artists.
