Pastel Exhibition – Journey of Survival

Batemans Bay Surf Lifesaving Club, 560 George Bass Drive , Malua Bay

Cost: Gold Coin donation to the Batemans Bay Surf Lifesaving Club.

Through each Artist’s interpretation of this epic journey of survival in Pastel Paintings, this Exhibition by members of The South Coast Pastel Society will bring to a life a little known story of local history.

This epic journey by the survivors of the wreck of the ship “The Sydney Cove” highlights the courage and determination of the men who made the journey from The Ninety Mile Beach in Victoria to Sydney. Their trek involved battling through dense bushland, crossing many rivers, numerous encounters with indigenous tribes who often helped these strange intruders by providing food and showing them how to conquer the obstacles encountered in this harsh environment.

The Exhibition also includes an open section which will showcase members many different styles and favourite subjects such as landscape, seascape and still life showcasing the versatility of the Pastel medium.
